This man made island was constructed in the 1890’s to protect the gold of Melbourne against the perceived threat from the Russians. It is now a marine park and bird and wildlife sanctuary. There is much fish life to be enjoyed. Suits snorkelers and open water divers.

There are tunnels and old living quarters that can be explored.

It is one of the few locations in Port Phillip where Gorgonian Fan Coral can be found.
